There was a good turn out for the Skipton Swimarathon this year and some of our young people managed to secure a lane.
The Skipton Swimarathon is organised jointly by the Lions Club of Guernsey and Guernsey Round Table, and is sponsored by Skipton International. The event raises money for various local charities. The Scouts practised their fire making skills tonight and cooked their own food, before finishing off the evening with a friendly game of football. We were lucky enough to be invited to take part in the Meet the Pilots event that took place at the Aircraft Servicing Guernsey (ASG) hangar.
Meet the Pilots gives you an opportunity to get "up close and personal" to the aircraft and the pilots and crew that are participating in the Guernsey Air Display. Meet the Pilots is held on the Wednesday afternoon as the displaying aircraft arrive in Guernsey. Guernsey Air Display 2015 The Scouts were invited back to take part in the Aero-Club open day this year.
Our young people showed off their aviation knowledge and met with some of the pilots of the private aircraft taking part in the open day. They also had the opportunity to show off our Jet Provost cockpit to some of the younger children. http://guernseyaeroclub.com Huge thanks to the Guernsey Aero-Club for taking our young people flying around the Island tonight.
Our young people got to put their knowledge into action by demonstrating the control surfaces of the plane, they learnt all about the pre-flight checks, rules of the runway and most importantly we got to experience the beautiful views of Guernsey and Herm which for most, was their first time in light airport. What a wonderful evening! |
