Membership AwardsThis award has been designed to help Explorer Scouts understand the commitment that they are making when they make their Promise and become Members of the Movement and the Explorer Scout section.
|
Moving-on AwardThe Moving-on Award is presented by the Scout Troop leader, and the young person should wear the award throughout their time with the Explorer Unit.
|
Participation AwardsThe Joining In badges recognise a commitment to Scouting. They celebrate Explorer Scouts participating in a Balanced Programme over a period of time.
These badges are not section specific. They recognise the length of time a young person has been a Member of the Scout Movement, rather than as a Member of any individual section |
Staged AwardsMany of the badges available are activity badges, which represent the pinnacle of achievement in a particular field. Whether their interests lie in Hill Walking or Performing Arts, Aviation or Public Relations, Explorers are rewarded both for developing existing strengths and undertaking new ventures. The staged activity badges have been designed to provide a unified approach throughout the sections.
There are six activity badges staged across the sections. This means that a young person can gain whichever badge is appropriate to the level they have reached. It is possible, for example, for a Beaver Scout who is an excellent swimmer to gain a higher level badge than a Scout who has just taken up the activity. A young person should always wear only the highest of each staged badge type that they have gained on the uniform. |

The Explorer Belt
The Explorer Belt is a challenge of a lifetime. It is a chance to take part in a ten day expedition that brings you a real understanding of a different country, its culture and way of life. You will develop this understanding by travelling through your chosen country, working as part of a small team to complete a series of projects and most importantly by meeting local people. It is an experience and an achievement that you will remember for the rest of your life.
